Phase I:  Qualitative Study

If you are an African-American student enrolled in an ABET accredited Engineering Program at an HBCU and you meet the following criteria, check with the Deans Office at your institution to inquire about participating in the study.  Also, you may contact us and express an interest in participating and we will guide you to the university contact in your college or school.

Participant (Student) Selection Criteria
Criteria 1:  HS G.P.A. of 3.0 or better
Criteria 2:  College G.P.A. cumulative of 3.0 or better
Criteria 3:  Black, US Citizen or Permanent Resident
Criteria 4:  Sophomore-Senor status include in reporting total hours completed and
                  hours completed in major.
Criteria 5: NSF defined STEM discipline (math, physics, chemistry, biology, engineering, computer science, and engineering technology)
Criteria 6:  At least 18 years old


Phase 2:  Quantitative Study

The Quantitative instrument (a survey) will be developed based on the findings of the Qualitative study.  The instrument developed will be available online via this site.  The survey is tentatively scheduled to be available Spring 2010.  Please continue to check the site for additional information.
